Who

Right Ventricular Displasia, or RVD, can steal a life suddenly. In RVD, normal heart
tissue is replaced by fatty material shown in the photograph below. RVD causes irregular
heartbeats and eventually can lead to sudden cardiac death. A familial genetic link is
suspected. The population most frequently affected is adolescent to young adults,
particularly athletes.
